Buxton Junior School

Victoria Whitehouse - Profile

Hi. My name is Vicky Whitehouse and I am a Co-opted Governor at Buxton Junior School.

I have lived and worked in Buxton since 2007 and have a son who attends Buxton Junior School and therefore I have a vested interest in the successful development of the school, both as a parent and a local resident.

I began my career as a primary school teacher, and have worked with early years through to Year 6, but specialised more in Key Stage One. My PGCE specialism was in Educational Psychology. With a degree in Psychology I decided to return to university to complete my MSc and I now work for the Department for Work and Pensions as a Chartered Occupational Psychologist supporting policy makers in their decision making. I have also worked as a researcher, trainer and consultant for the Health and Safety Executive and as a Learning Designer for the Department for Education.

I have a passion for education and enabling people to achieve their potential, and I am thrilled to be back working and supporting the education industry. My latest role means that I no longer spend weeks travelling the country and I feel confident that I can now take on the additional responsibility of being a school governor.

I hope to be an asset to the school by being an active and effective governor.
