My name is Ruth Brown and I am a Parent Governor at Buxton Junior School.

My children are in Years 3 and 6 and, as a former pupil of Buxton Junior School (in the late1980s) it's great to have the opportunity to give something back as a parent governor.

Career wise, my background is in journalism and academia and I currently work as a freelance writer and designer.

I'm interested in developing creative skills and building access to the arts and crafts for all our children and I currently voluntarily run Buxton Junior School's Sewing Club.

Through being on the Governing Board, I look forward to learning more about the school and working with the other Governors to continue to improve the school and learning for all pupils.
