Buxton Junior School

Welcome

Mrs Ros Carter - Headteacher

Welcome to Buxton Junior School.

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am really proud to be the headteacher of Buxton Junior School. I hope that this website gives you all the information you need about our school and shows you how our values and ethos underpin everything we do.

We value every child at Buxton Junior School; our aim is that everyone has the opportunity to shine and we look for the gifts and talents in every child. We have a fantastic staff team here at Buxton Junior School who are caring and sensitive to the needs of all our children. We believe we excel at relationships. From 9.05am to 3.35pm, from Year 3 to Year 6, we encourage every child to be curious, engaged and interested in the world around them.

The children here at Buxton Junior School are positive, cheerful and keen to question and learn. We want to build on this curiosity by ensuring our curriculum is one where every child has the chance to experience a real variety of opportunities, both at school and beyond. Academic success is important but we believe that education is about so much more than that and we hope our curriculum teaches the other life-skills, modern British values and the  knowledge that our children will need to navigate the wider world. We are passionate advocates of outdoor learning and aim to get our children outside at every opportunity. We also believe that we need to give our children wide experiences so they can appreciate the diverse world that we live in.

We want to work with the whole school community and build on the school’s many strengths. We believe good relationships with parents and carers are vital to the success of the school and hope that by working together we can ensure all the children at Buxton Junior School thrive and make good progress, ready to leave with the right skills and positive attitudes for secondary school and beyond. We have high expectations of all the children and expect excellent attendance, behaviour and a positive approach to learning.

If you would like more information or to visit, please feel free to contact me. I love showing people round our school as we have so much to share and celebrate.
