Having arrived at Buxton Junior School as Deputy Headteacher, I was delighted to become an active member of the governing body soon after. After an early career change, I became fully qualified as a teacher in 2005. As I write this I realise I am coming up to a bit of a landmark: this year represents my twentieth in education and my tenth year as a Deputy Head with Buxton Junior School. Time flies!
In my school-based role I bring experience, enthusiasm and a dedication to whole school improvement. Having worked across infant and junior age ranges, both in the UK and overseas, I have built a good understanding of learning in the primary age range. This has been reflected in my role as a Senior Leader of Education (SLE), sharing good practice with other schools across Derbyshire and Derby City. I have very high expectations of pupils and their learning, and am committed to providing opportunities for all members of our school to succeed and fulfil their potential.
Currently, I coordinate assessment, the Pupil Premium and have a responsibility for curriculum development, where I am subject leader for Geography and History and work with other subject leaders to ensure teaching and learning across our school is the very best that it can be. Outside of the school and I have a keen interest in music, food and sport.
